Mother of two boys, 6 and 3 year old
We were in a long distance-relationship when we got married and when we were expecting our first child, we thought it was better to reunite the family in Geneva.
My husband was sure I would find the same position here and persuaded me to resign, but I am still looking for that job! I have had to reinvent myself professionally several times, as a result, the nature of my work has changed dramatically and does not always reflect my profile and expectations.
I think it is important for a woman to go back to work fairly soon after she has had a child. Working is building your identity through constant challenge and if you do not work, you feel something is missing from you as a person. The social aspect of working relationships also adds a lot not only to your life, but to your personality.
I prefer to struggle to find balance between work and other aspects of my life than not to work at all. My mum keeps reminding me that I have to work to be economically independent from my partner and have the freedom to make my own choices.
